Brytan first in LEED-ND
Brytan 1 of 6 in Florida in Pilot LEED-ND Program
Brytan, a new mixed-use community designed by famed new urbanist DUANY and DPZ Architects, is at the forefront of the green building movement as one of only 6 LEED-ND pilot projects in the State of Florida.
LEED-ND (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Neighborhood Development) is being developed by the U. S. Green Building Council in collaboration with the Congress of the New Urbanism and the Natural Resources Defense Council to assess the principles of new urbanism, smart growth, and green building on a neighborhood level.
Responsible development and green building techniques are expected by today’s homeowners, which is why Brytan has engaged the Program for Resource Efficient Communities at the University of Florida to provide support and guidance for meeting the LEED-ND requirements. By following LEED-ND standards for the neighborhood and LEED-H standards for homes, Brytan has made a substantial commitment to environmental responsibility.
Brytan’s sustainable design standards go well beyond energy efficiency. “Going green is more than recycling programs and energy efficient windows,” says David Miller of Brice Business Group, Founder of Brytan. “Today’s consumer wants a home that is healthy for their family and energy efficient, but also was built in a way that respects the environment. We’ve taken into account everything from road design, to minimizing light pollution, to establishing conservation programs to minimize environmental impact.”
Located in Gainesville, FL, Brytan is a traditional neighborhood development that brings the latest in design and innovation amidst treelined streets and beautiful parks.
